testing center savage.

Working at the testing center would definitely be a hard days work..
I mean the crap that comes with that job HAS to be the reason why the employee is so unpleasant right?
Or do they just hire them on the spot with that attitude...

Let me just share with you my experience that I had with the lovely UVU testing center this morning...

I got asked to take an accuplacer test. but since I was retaking it {i had previously researched} the fee was $10.
As I walk in and tell the innocent angel at the desk my ID number and which test I was taking--she interrupted me right as I was going to tell her it was a retake and hand her the $10 in my hand. She finishes up whatever she was typing {most likely on fb} and takes forever looking up my name, printing out the test, etc. She then acts like I was "getting away with something" as she tells me that it looks like I had already taken this accuplacer test and needed to pay the fee. I then nicely point to the $10 in front of her. She says nothing as she snatches it up...

Since we're going through airport security she asks me if I have any electronic devices on me. Of course my phone...so I pull that out to turn it off. I forget for this type of test she gets to hold it up front and I get it after I am done. Then she asks for me to follow her into the next room. As I pick up my backpack I struggle because it's kind of heavy.

Of course sherlock here suspects something...

"why is your bag so heavy?"
"oh i have books and a laptop.."
"I SAID no electronic devices.."

well gee lady, I mean I can see why you are confiscating my phone so I won't easily cheat but am I really going to whip out my big laptop during the test...?
finally once we have that sorted out we get into the next room as she explains the rules of this test. {which took 20 mins-i mean how hard can no talking..number 2 pencil..take?}

Much to my dismay she tells me that this test is on the computer.
lame..I am already a bad test taker, but it sure helps when I can TOUCH and work on the problems when they are riiiiight there instead of re-writing the problem from a computer screen onto scratch paper and making sure I wrote the problem correctly.
She then says I can't use my own scratch paper
WHAT. k this isn't jail. or National Treasure {yes my honest thought was that invisible map on the back of the decleration..I have the answers hidden on MY scratch paper}

Instead, they give you ONE small notecard for your scratch paper and if you fill that, you can come up and get a new one. And by come up i mean to a table that is close to the computers with the notecards on them. If you go pass the table your test then gets voided. I was pretty much outraged...they wouldn't let me take a few at the beginning. No no, I had to get up three times and get new scratch paper, or a scratch CARD we should say.
Finally i was done with the test and got to feel like i was in elementary school again when i saw on the screen. . .

Raise your hand and sit quietly for the proctor to come and assist you.

I'm fine with that.
I mean I can do that.
but when I'm waiting there for a few minutes with my hand up {keep in mind they won't let me stand up and walk back to the proctor} it gets pretty annoying.

FINALLY after about an hour and a half my journey is done and I get my score and head out the door. I then say to Miss sunshine "well i hope you have a good day" and she barks back to me "what is that supposed to mean?"
THANK GOODNESS I am halfway out the door and can just smile and be like whaaat..got to go..
Despite all I had been through I really was trying to be nice.
My bad, since when does "have a good day" translate to "have a good day because we KNOW you haven't been having one so far because you have acted like a complete beast."

On a lighter note:

its bf bdahlin's birthday month!
