I just listened to the wonderful words of our dear Elder Ballard's CES fireside given this past sunday and feel blessed.Side note: listening to the talks online is so great because you're able to relisten or pause while you write down. www.lds.org go for it.
Here were some of the highlights that I want to share.
"Beware. Satan is making us drift in our commitments to the Gospel."
"30 years from now the church will be dependent on you-will you be ready?"
"Please strive to stay anchored to the Gospel."
He then asks questions that we can ask ourselves about our own life:
"1) are you happy with the direction your faith in Jesus Christ is going?
2) do you love God with all of your heart soul strength & mind?
3) are you doing the simple things in your everyday life?
4) are you saying your prayers every morning and night?
5) are you reading the scriptures everyday?
6) are you using appropriate language?
7) are you honest?
8) are you living the word of wisdom?
9) are you being kind and thoughtful of those needs around you?
10) are you following the words of the brethren?
11) are you living worthy of a temple reccomend?
12) are you actively participating in your sunday meetings?
13) as returned missionaries, are you maintaining the dignity of a servant of the Lord in your dress and attitude?
14) are you preparing and persuing to find an eternal companion?
If you are doing your very best to follow Jesus Christ, then you can answer all of these questions with a resounding YES!"
He also repeats many times which is so very important
"Are you giving the Lord equal time?"
We are so busy in life with work, technology, school, social...I hope we are not forgetting to give the Lord "equal," if not more time. That is definitely a goal we can all work on.
