I think it goes a lot slower when you're a counselor.
Speaking of that---I have never missed being a counselor more than this moment in time. If I were to do EFY again I think I would MAKE SURE I get one or two counselor weeks. But that doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed my time as a BC. Because truth is, I adore it.
Building family relationships with my team of 9.
Listening and caring for my lovely counselors.
Impressing my own self with pulling off Musical programs or Variety shows.
Cruisin' in the cruiser.
Laughing my head off with the process of lights out. (good and bad)
Picking my favorite youth to hang out with and focusing attention on the troubled.
Dancing crazy and doing it by myself since I don't have to have youth.
Teaching the principle of modesty to humbling young girls.
Participating in the success of my counselors.
And doing this all while gaining a stronger testimony for this gospel?
YES PLEASE.
At first, it was weird when I found out that lots of people from my world I knew were doing it this year. I loved that last summer it was kind of my safe haven away from everyone I knew in my real life world. But it was quickly brought to my attention that they needed to experience the experiences I had. This is incredible work! And I will say this over and over...nobody will quite understand unless they do it.
So here's to the last 2.5 weeks.
I know once October hits I'll be missing the EFYing life but I think it's safe to say that I'm happy it's winding down. I'm more than happy to start school again and so many fun things are instore for the Fall. It's funny to think that real life keeps going while I'm just in the walls of BYU campus...so having said that, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and making it worth their while.
Because we sure are!
